Description
I’ve loved banana bread all my life, but honestly don’t make it very often. It’s so lovely served warm with butter! It makes a tasty companion to morning coffee.

- 1 cup sugar
- 2 tbs unsalted butter (room temp)
- 1 large egg
- 3 tsps buttermilk
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 cups flour
- 1/2 cup walnut pieces
- 1 cup mashed very ripe bananas (this is generally 2–3 bananas)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease a 5×9 loaf pan and set aside.
- In a large bowl whisk together sugar, butter, egg, buttermilk, baking soda, nutmeg, and oil.
- Fold/stir in sifted flour
- stir in bananas and walnuts
Pour into loaf pan and bake for 1 hour. Test for doneness with a butterknife inserted into the center (done when comes out clean). When done, remove from pan and cool on a rack.
