2024 Razorback Ramble
in Hot Springs
This was our first time to attend the Razorback Ramble in Hot Springs! We had a great time and are already looking forward to next year. We got to spend a lot of time out on trails (as opposed to other locals that had limited options we could traverse effectively).
The Ramble is hosted by the Razorback Land Cruisers and was a fund raising benefit for Arkansas Children’s Hospital. We have been to other events and loved that The Ramble allowed for a laid back/low-key time with others. The event was held at the Hot Springs Off-Road Park. Their accommodations were great and well maintained. There is limited cell-service with better connection closer to the office wi-fi. So, if you need to work while there you do have some options for that.
Because the terrain in this area of Arkansas is very rocky we saw less degradation of the trail after rains than we have seen in other places (rained quite a bit while we were there). As a result, there were many trails we were able to traverse that might otherwise have been washed out/non-options. Many of the trails include long steep grades. The Snake trail was particularly challenging for us due to lack of diff lockers (see Eric’s stellar driving abilities in video link). Far too many loose rocks on steep grades. So, be mindful of this when going to this park depending upon your rig capabilities. Due to the lack of lockers we didn’t do anything beyond a Level 2 trail.
There is an inherent intensity to this past time. It prompts thoughts of, “what if we get stuck,” “what if we break something,” “what if we can’t make it back?” Engaging all driving abilities and on the fly problem solving…is absolutely exhilarating!
We look forward to returning to the park to ride with friends again soon!
